Living and caring for both my parents since 2011. My Mum was a stroke victim. Non weight bearing, paralysed down left side and partially sighted with brain damage. She died in 2014.
My father now 97 has kept reasonable well until last couple of years. Frequent cardiac events and recently admitted due to fluid build up on lung. Probably caused by a cancer but he’s elected not to have tests or treatment. He almost certainly has prostate cancer and the associated issues.
The council has recently awarded him self directed funding but I have had no written information as yet. So still researching what I need to do. My Dad has paid for a live in carer for 4 weeks to give me a complete break, although I stayed at home. Currently I am managing on my own until council information comes through.
