Has anyone got any advice or experience of using their SDS for home/ garden adaptations to meet outcomes? I am receiving resistance to some very good options that would have a positive impact and would meet a number of unmet needs. I feel that the LA are limiting how the outcomes can be met and just want to recover unspent funds that could usefully be utilised if they were not so restrictive
Hi @MaryP
I suspect that if you LA are not very keen to see SDS budgets used flexibly you are up against it, but I would suggest putting any proposals in writing with full costings and evidencing how it meets the outcomes (which it sounds like you may have done already). Then a complaint, if necessary.
You might also want to look at alternative sources of funding, such as Independence at Home - Towards Independent Living
